Phil Thompson paints in oil, both polychrome and monochrome (sepia). His subjects range from simple still lifes, to nudes, landscapes, and cityscapes.
Thompson began his formal artistic training in the mid-1980s at the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. In 1990, he won the Academy's Stuempfig Award for excellence. See other awards.
Thompson says he works in oil, "because the medium is both malleable and durable. I can reworkan image until I get what I want, and, when completed, it will last.
